COMPANY HISTORY & PROFILE

TOP

Originally known as Smith & Olley, the firm started trading in 1931 from an office in London near Cannon Street which was bombed out during the 2nd World War destroying all their records. After the war the company moved to the Surrey Docks area where Ted Olley, his wife Pam who he had met whilst working for Montague Meyers and business partner
Mr W Smith continued to sell low grade softwoods and specialised in the packing and cable drum industries.

The Olley family had many connections within the timber industry with
2 uncles and 4 cousins working in the wood trade including a former director of Travis Perkins.

In 1952 EE Olley & Sons Ltd was formed and in 1970 moved to their current 2 acre site in Dartford, Kent.

This green field site was gradually developed to a Timber Importers yard which boasts large under-cover storage, timber milling facilities conveniently located near the M25 at junction 1b. With certified timber sourcing and computerised stock control, EE Olley & Sons Ltd are the leading timber importers specialising in large and long softwood sections.
