Focused on the merchant supply & heavy industrial construction sectors we hold a wide range of timber products in softwoods and hardwoods from around the world.
All of which are responsibly sourced.

Firrings

Softwood Carcassing

Offering mainly spruce but some pine we hold a very wide range of sawn carcassing focusing on the larger dimensions. Planer regularised (fast planed) & KILN DRIED stock is also available.

Railway Sleepers

At our Dartford yard EE Olley stock a wide range of railway sleepers both reclaimed and new softwood and hardwood. The popular hardwood reclaimed sleepers are recovered from Europe and are usually creosote coated oak making them heavy, strong and durable. These characteristics are ideal for retaining walls, aggregate bays and landscaping although frequent skin contact should be avoided.

Treated Timber

Preservative treated timbers are also kept in stock for prompt despatch including lengths up to 8.4m long! Most of the treated stock is normally GREEN in colour but some BROWN pigment is also available to order. Other treatments such FIRE TREATED, creosoted and special coatings are also offered as special processes.

56 / 30 Packing Case Timbers

Whitewood spruce is typically supplied for the production of packing cases as it is light and very good value. The cost common grade is a VIth or "sixths" which is fairly low quality level and often planer regularised to ensure uniform dimensions which is important in case making.

Sheet Materials

To compliment out timber supply we also offer a limited range of sheet material mainly allied to the construction industry. Shuttering plywood, marine plywood & formwork faced plywood being the most popular. Some Far Eastern hardwood plywood, OSB and hardwood are also stocked at our Dartford yard.

European Hardwoods

European Oak is the largest specie held in stock and traded. With a range of "off the shelf" popular sizes of fresh sawn i.e. "green" or "unseasoned" European oak sections available. Other bespoke sizes of oak can be ordered on a "forward" basis from our French sawmills or our UK sources within weeks. Other species used in construction or heavy industry such as beech and robinia are also available as special order items.

Worldwide Hardwoods

We frequently supply a range of constructional and marine hardwoods such as iroko, keruing, ekki (azobe), opepe and balau. These timbers are widely used for external applications such as street furniture, claddings, lorry bodies and sea/river defences. Both sawn and planed finishes are available with additional machining such as profiling, pointing and drilling etc.

European Softwoods

Whilst the majority of our stocks are whitewood spruce we also hold some redwood pine sections in both sawn and planed finishes. An increasingly popular species is European douglas fir and this timber is an attractive alternative to lower grades. Siberian larch is another wonderful specie ideal for exterior claddings available sawn or machined to profile by special order. Finally European or home grown larch also cut from the log to order provide a more durable alternative to spruce when service life is important.

Heat Treated / Modified / Engineered Timber

To complement our range of large, long and specialist stocked items we can supply to order engineered timber products. These include Glulam beams, carefully fabricated laminated beams available in huge lengths and dimensions.

North American & Canadian Softwoods

Amongst the most popular North American & Canadian timbers are West Red Cedar and Clear Douglas Fir.

Knee Rail Fencing

Utilising our special wood machines in particular our new cross cut, we can produce a wide range of commercial fencing products such a "knee rail" and featheredge fencing. All cut to special order the components of this low level fence are offered including the fence posts with "bird's mouth" cuts, horizontal rail, galvanised fixing straps together with 25kg boxes of galvanised wire nails.
